Japan's Animal Islands!

Writer's picture: MelanieMelanie

As I was perusing the internet, searching for ideas for my blog, I came across an enchanting video about a few islands off of Japan that are now a "MUST" on my bucket-list. This is absolutely 100% worth sharing, and I had to stop what I was doing immediately to write this post.

Apparently, Japan has a fox village. I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure others agree, why am I only learning about this now? Located in Miyagi Zao, Japan, the fox village is a popular tourist spot where you can roam and hang out with these adorable, furry foxes.

Japan has a rabbit island too! Located on Ōkunoshima. I suppose it would make sense that if a few rabbits escaped, and had babies, and more babies, and more babies it would be nearly impossible to prevent an adorable epidemic. Is it really a problem though? Look at those faces! Not only is this island for animal lovers, but history lovers too. You can take tours of the abandoned poison gas factory from World War 2, and check out the museum.

I was so excited when I heard about Cat Cafes, but a whole cat island! Yes Please! I would spend days here. These cats are so cute! The first video is a cat haven on

Tashiro-jima island. The second video takes place on Aoshima island. The second one is probably the most famous cat island in Japan. There are about 10 cat islands in Japan!

This video includes a little snip about the cat Station Master, Tama, the second :)

A dog amusement park! I want to play puppy bingo so badly now! How cute. These good boys and girls need lots of pets. This is great whether you are a cat or dog person! or both! This cute place full of fluffy love is located in Tsukuba in the Ibaraki prefecture.
